No one ever disliked him, they just made fun of his bad acting. And frankly, he's still not a very good actor, although people like his personality so much that you'll usually get shit on for saying it now. Women do not have to be thin cook for you shirt. I wouldn’t really say he’s exactly bad, more just limited. He’s awful when he tries to go outside of himself but he’s also very, very good at what he does well. That was probably part of the reason for the shift in people's perception of him. Being typecast used to kill careers. Now it puts you on top of casting lists whenever a movie is looking for someone to fill that role. Ryan Reynolds is another example. He used to be a bit of a joke that everyone loves now.
